There can never be enough Ramones vinyl in a collection

Another album that you just don’t see very often. I found this one in a local record store. A UK Press from 1979 in great condition. This is their 4th album and includes the classic “I Wanna Be Sedated”

Punk has always been an oxymoron. Bands wanted to be punk and rebellious but when they achieved a bit of success their fans would scream “Sell Outs!!!” Groups like the Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, and Blondie took punk/new wave to the masses…the Ramones were more than a one hit wonder with hits like “Rockaway Beach” and “Blitzkrieg Bop” but they never gained the momentum of the others that made it big in the mainstream.

This album has a great version of The Searchers “Needles and Pins”, which was cowrote by Sonny Bono. There’s also some punk standards like “I Want Everything” and “I’m Against It” where they hate politics, communists, and Burger King. It’s also a keeper because it has a great cover. You can rewatch this video over and over again and watch all the characters moving around the band that’s sitting at the table…I laughed towards the end when I noticed that one of the guys was wearing a Hank Williams Jr. T-shirt.
